Following a good response for her first single “4tm”, Chesne is back with a new song and surprisingly a slightly different sound. “Salt Water” slows down the pace, allowing for her lyrics to brush across your ears easily and pull you high into the clouds. Choosing cover art with the lyrics included is not only a nice touch for the song, but also serves as a reminder to the listeners to focus on her words more than anything. Before the song begins, you’re able to just vibe to the beat before she even touches the track. But overall, the song is peaceful and soft-sounding. She even brings on fellow New Jeru member Khamaal to finish the song with his laid-back flow and rhyme scheme. Both artists seem to be coexist beautifully, providing balance for a quality track.
